Three Rivers Hospital is planning to update our aging facility and better support the healthcare needs of our community for years to come.
The main section of our hospital was built in the 1950s. While our dedicated staff continue to provide high-quality care, the building was designed for a very different era of healthcare. Modernizing our facility will allow us to better accommodate today’s technology, equipment, care needs and patient expectations.
The project focuses on areas patients experience throughout their care, from arriving at the hospital to receiving diagnostic services, undergoing surgery, or staying in one of our inpatient rooms.
What will modernization mean for patients?
The project is designed to support:
The ideal patient experience
A centralized entrance and registration area for hospital and clinic services will make it easier to find where you need to go. Renovated patient rooms will include private bathrooms and showers, and expanded parking will provide greater convenience for patients and visitors.
Modern care spaces and technology
New Surgery and Radiology departments will provide more space for current equipment and technologies, including a planned new CT scanner. Larger operating rooms will be designed to accommodate current surgical technologies.
More connected care
A new electronic medical record (EMR) system, called EPIC, will make it easier to share medical records between Three Rivers and other healthcare providers such as Confluence Health. Patients who use MyChart will be able to access their Three Rivers records and communicate with their care teams.
Efficient, reliable infrastructure
Modernized building systems — including HVAC, medical gas systems, generators and other essential utilities — will support the hospital’s ability to provide care today and in the future.
Improved access and patient flow
A new ambulance bay with direct access to the Emergency Department, a relocated helipad and improved building flow will support efficient patient transport and access to care.
Why now?
Modernizing an existing hospital is a significant undertaking, but it is important to plan for the future rather than wait until aging infrastructure limits our ability to provide the care our community needs.
This project would allow Three Rivers to update key areas of the hospital, support current healthcare technology and equipment, and create spaces designed around the needs of today’s patients and care teams.
Our goal is simple: to keep high-quality healthcare close to home while creating a hospital that can serve our community for generations to come.
