What’s Included in the Modernization Project?

The proposed modernization project includes improvements throughout Three Rivers Hospital. Here’s a closer look at what is planned.

Two-Story Addition

A new two-story addition will connect the hospital to the clinic, replacing the existing breezeway.

First floor

• A new central main entrance serving both the hospital and clinic
  Going from three separate entrances to one for ease of navigation and convenience
• Centralized patient registration
• A quiet waiting area
• A new Radiology department
  Space for patient changing rooms and modern diagnostic equipment, including a planned new CT scanner

Second floor

• A new Surgery department
• Pre- and post-operative rooms plus a recovery room
• Larger operating rooms designed to accommodate current technologies and equipment

Roof

• The helipad will move from the ground to the roof of the new addition
• An elevator will connect the helipad to the hospital to facilitate patient transport

Emergency Department Improvements

The project includes:

• An ambulance bay with direct access to the Emergency Department
• A dedicated EMS entrance
• A decontamination room near the new ambulance entrance
• Relocation of the nurses’ station closer to the Emergency Department

These changes are designed to improve access, patient flow and the efficiency of emergency care.

Acute Care Patient Rooms

Eight inpatient rooms will be renovated.

Each renovated room will include:

• A private bathroom
• A private shower
• Updated spaces designed to improve comfort, privacy and function

Centralized Registration & Check-In

A new central entrance and registration area will serve hospital and clinic patients and visitors.

This will create a simpler, more streamlined experience for patients arriving at Three Rivers and help them find the services they need.

Expanded Parking

The project includes additional parking for patients and visitors to improve convenience and access to the hospital.

New Energy Plant

A new outbuilding behind the hospital will house critical infrastructure, including:

• Updated HVAC systems
• Medical gas systems
• New generators
• Other essential utilities and building systems

Modernizing these systems will support the hospital’s ongoing operations and future needs.

Connected Care Technology

The modernization project also includes a new electronic medical record system called EPIC.

For patients, this means:

• Easier sharing of medical records between Three Rivers and other healthcare providers
• MyChart access to Three Rivers medical records
• The ability for MyChart users to communicate with their care teams

 

Together, these improvements are designed to create a more modern, connected and patient-centered healthcare experience while keeping care close to home.
